Bateman Not Yet Cast in Hancock 2

ComingSoon.net talked to Jason Bateman about the status of Hancock 2 since it was reported in Variety recently that the comedic actor will reprise his role in the Columbia Pictures sequel. Bateman said it wasn't true, at least not yet.

"I only know what I've read," Bateman said. "No one has contacted me or anybody that represents me to ask if we were interested. I don't know anything about it. It's surprising to me that Variety would write that story because they're usually pretty well vetted before they report something and that was completely false. I haven't heard anything about it. The whole thing about me being on board could not be farther from the truth. I would love to be a part of the film, but I haven't heard anything about it."

You can see what he said about the Arrested Development movie here.

Midnight news!

I'm not so excited about Hancock 2, the first one was fun, but nothing more, we'll see

the first one was enjoyable.. I guess I'll see the second... what difference does it make if Jason Bateman is in the second one? Did he really have that big of a part in the movie to be in the second? Let it go Louie....

I thought it said "Batman". Who cares, just make an Arrested Development movie. Oh, and a live action Gargoyles.

Hancock sucked. 1st half awesome...2nd half was pure scatter brained crap. How do you go from an excellent super hero movie idea to a sappy deity love story? This was two movies in one....one sucked, the other was fun. Get it right this time.

I don't see why he should be in the next one. If they are going to explain the origins what does that have to do with bateman.

If the female god, don't remember her name, stayed with Batemen's character then he would definatly need to be in the movie. Just saying he was killed would be kind of dumb. Didn't they have a kid together also? Sorry I've only seen the movie once and that was in theatres.

Hey, what happened to the posts that were put up last night when this story first appeared?

Obvious`s post on Hancock 2 reflect my exact sentiments.
I passed on Hancock.I`m certain that I`ll pass on Hancock 2.Will Smith can do better than Hancock. We`ve seen him do better than Hancock.
Peter Berg couldn`t deliver.Superhero movies aren`t for amateurs.

I'm willing to give this a shot and see if they can improve with the flaws that brought the first one down.

When the idea for this sequel first surfaced LAST summer, I never imagined Bateman returning, but when Variety reported that he would be, I got extremely excited. Jason Bateman is my favorite actor, and I would absolutely watch Hancock 2 if he was in it. Now that this seems not to be the case, I will probably skip it. The first half of Hancock was excellent, and then they started trying to do too much. I don't have high hopes that the second one will even be a decent movie.

Why the hell would they make a second one. The first one sucked. Don't get me wrong I loved the first half of the movie but the second they revealed that he was a god and went off on that little tangent I completely lost interest.
