David Henrie to Become The Weapon
Source:Platinum Studios
September 16, 2009

Platinum Studios, Inc. has partnered with Disney Channel star David Henrie to star in the theatrical adaptation of the Platinum Studios comic book The Weapon. Henrie stars in Disney Channel's "Wizards of Waverly Place."

Henrie will play martial arts enthusiast and inventor Tommy Zhou, who has developed a ground-breaking portable innovation. But is Tommy's invention manufactured or an ancient mystical technique? An evil order wants it and will stop at nothing to get it.

The feature film adaptation will be produced by its creator, Platinum Studios Inc. chairman and CEO Scott Mitchell Rosenberg. Producer Jim Henrie ("The Beautiful & The Damned," "The Good Life," "Fake") will also serve as producer, and former Universal Pictures senior executive Randy Greenberg of The Greenberg Group, who brought the parties together, will serve as an executive producer.

Platinum Studios' film and TV division is developing Cowboys & Aliens with producers Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer and DreamWorks, Universal Pictures, Imagine Entertainment and Kurtzman/Orci (the writing team behind the "Transformers" franchise and the resurrected "Star Trek" franchise). In addition, Platinum is developing Unique with "Harry Potter" producer David Heyman at Walt Disney Pictures, Witchblade with Wanted executive producer Marc Silvestri, Top Cow Productions, Inc. and Arclight Films, Atlantis Rising with DreamWorks, and an untitled project at Sony Pictures Animation.

Could be because the kid's actually pretty good. I am not ashamed to admit I watch Disney Channel, and David Henrie is not a bad actor at all. Also, he's good looking enough to appeal to young girls and actually has a decent build on him (lean but visible muscle, so he can probably pack on some more pounds if the role requires).

YES!!!!! he is sooooooo FINE!!

I wouldn't jump the gun on this he might actually surprise everyone. He Looks like he can pull it off, this could be the role that breaks him away from the Disney channel and shows that he can be more than just a squeaky clean actor for a kids channel.

he is a good actor. i was thinking a month ago he could be some kind of superhero. he is more manly than tobey maguire not saying davin is a good choise for spidey just not a little ***** like tobey

Normally I would laugh cause I hate the show, but then again Shia Labouef was once one of those crazy disney kids on Even Stevens, now hes doing Transformers and Indy.
I say give the kid a chance.
And if he fails horribly then we can all laugh in his face.
Until then....

I've said before in the forums that if Disney/Marvel were to jump into a live action Spidey show any time soon, David Henrie is the guy for the role.

Posted by: Justice on September 16, 2009 at 11:44:03

I dont think he could do spidey.
Peter parker maybe.
Hes got the look. I dont know about the build.
Plus hes still pretty young.
Could work for a show for kids to teens though.

I agree with Air Force One. This kid would be great as Peter Parker in a Spiderman reboot.

Not Bad, he's a pretty good actor and now he's getting his shot...

David Henrie...two last names. If he wasn't an actor he'd probably end up becoming a serial killer. Lucky he has a more attractive outlet

Ive seen his show and the kid's pretty funny. Good luck with the movie jump, hope it ends well for u *cough* Frankie Muniz *cough*

David Henrie is a pretty solid actor. His show just won an Emmy for "Outstanding Kids Show"... so that is a good sign. The guy has a HOT body and he used to do martial arts growing up. I have faith in this. I'll see it for him alone.

Ahh now I get why Disney Bought Marvel! It's so they can export their "talent" in to super hero movies!

Jonas Brothers & Miley Cyrus as the Fantastic Four?!

Welcome to Hell People!

"Straining facepalm" ohthe first of the comments oh you poor ignoramus, you are cleary fail to underestimate this situation, and yet you excuted such a useless and unexerated and bogus opinon in your matter, and why not care you say? well maybe this you'll know , dispite the actor's "called talent"
being played out in this undecicated poor casting production, why not a asian playing the character, and hollywood is always doing this lately, with dragonball, avatar, king of fighter, and so much being aquaded that they fail to use better judgement when aqiring these types, well my point is that the production and the casting for tommy zohu is stupid, the character is asian for goodness sakes (well i'm not asian, i'm african american, but i will not sit by there viewing your indiderious comment) , and being asian in a prodimoly setting in and Exubrating setting known as Hollywood *ack* *ack* they seem to turn a blind eye when delevoping such productions such as dragonball evolution and avatar, failing to cotorizie the fact the character of the orignal devlopent is saposed to be protrayed by the person of his likeness of the same efnicity, now that i proved you wrong i will check up more often placing such future comments of this acrociting production.

oh and p.s. david hernie looks stupid, and disney is whoring every thing, so your poor dumb deluded qvivering brains is somehow making this ok and some what convient, S***.
