SuperHeroHype.com caught up with Watchmen star Jeffrey Dean Morgan on the set of his new film, The Losers, based on the DC/Vertigo comic book series. Though we're still under embargo for full details from the set, Jeffrey did share with us a role that he's gunning for; the main man himself in Guy Ritchie's recently announced Lobo.
"[T]hey're making 'Lobo' right now," offered JDM, "That would be cool. 'Lobo' would be very cool. I don't think that I'm as big as Lobo is, but if you could, like, transplant Mickey Rourke's body on my head, that would be just great."
The comic book character, re-developed in the early '90s, is that of an intergalactic bounty hunter and hard-drinking biker. Designed as somewhat of an over-the-top parody of his violent anti-hero contemporaries, Lobo has become a popular mainstay of the DC Universe, appearing outside of comics in "Superman: The Animated Series" and "Justice League," as well as in his own animated web-series.
"You're always looking for material that's kind of smart and fun and this seems to be where it is right now," says the actor in regards to his interest in so many comic book properties, "The studios are really gravitating towards it, more than I've ever seen them gravitate towards anything in a long time. Comic books are really the thing right now and I don't see that going away for at least the next couple of years."
Lobo has two major creative forces in common with The Losers in producers Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman, a connection not at all lost on Dean Morgan.
"I do have an in," he admits, "I'll be elbowing somebody soon."

That'd be good.

I'd support JDM as Lobo.

A younger version of lobo perhaps. You know much like Sabretooth in X-men Origin.
Yeah, they mentioned abt teaming up wth a teenage girl. Probably he too as a teenage life, free lance bounty hunter. What do you think?

They could certainly do worse. JDM is a capable actor. He could pull off Lobo's persoanlity well. But I think his role in Watchmen may have gone to his head. He's a bit on the tubby side to play Lobo, isn't he?

He seems perfect for the role!

I like Jeffrey for the part of Lobo. This role is kinda similar to his role the Comedian in Watchmen,so I hope his does get it. I just hope they don't put him in dreadlocks or something.Trust me, the image is not pretty

Too bad the plot they are running with sucks! I promise you that Lobo will have to go into disguise so he can fit in with the rest of the human race and look normal. After an hour of "fish out of water" jokes, we may get some action. As the teenage girl cops an "attitude".

You know he would do a pretty good Lobo. I can actually see him now just from Watchmen

I agree that this would be a wicked casting choice. although i dont know much about the character. I always really liked the character growing up. should be a good film!

Okay, let's not get carried away. JDM'd be okay as Lobo. Perfect he ain't.

I think the best chioce for lobo is Jason Momoa from Stargate Atlantis...this guy would be awsome in the part.

No you fools are all wrong. You are all basing upon appearance, the only the person that should get the role is Brad Garrett.

Jeffrey Dean would be good. But he would have to muscle up a little.

Dalip Singh is LOBO!!!
Anyone else will be settleing for mediocrecy.

Lupus Caninus
Dalip Singh is indeed a perfect choice for Lobo in terms of image appearance but ...can he speak english?
Posted by: Lobo on September 14, 2009 at 06:48:08
He'd actually be a very cool choice

JDM was heavy in watchmen and i cant wait to see the losers....he would be great as lobo....WB right now are going crazy doing it proper

He will be good right on the money!! But have Lobo the way he is in his prime, not no young Lobo like some people mention. If he is too small for the actually Lobo body, you can always fix a few stuff there and there with CGI to fill in the gaps. But get him for Lobo!!!

I will come if it happens!

Okay, this would be cool.
JDM was the best thing about Watchmen.

Lately he's been signed to do a lot of Comic-book adaptions. But, he'll do great as Lobo.
Hopefully this becomes R-rated, according to what I've researched on Lobo.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan certainly looks like Lobo when prosthetics and make-up applied on him . Plus the fact that he could act , it seems this role is tailor made for him. I guess he's talking about Lobo , because it's a cinch that he'll play Lobo in the Guy Ritchie flick.

he would be GREAT....!!!!
