Diane Nelson Talks DC Entertainment
Source:MTV
September 11, 2009

MTV alerted us that they spoke to Diane Nelson about the formation of DC Entertainment:

Just posted a fairly lengthy interview w/ Diane Nelson, the new head of DC Entertainment. She discusses the effect of the recent company restructuring on the comics and movies side, but also offers some hints about the changes we could see in the future.

Most notably, she specifically calls out Vertigo as an area of interest for more development, and addresses the likelihood of seeing more comic creators involved in films (a la Geoff Johns on Flash, as well as all of the Marvel creators involved with Marvel movies). She also weighs in on the rumors about the "call back" on DC-related movies developed with non-WB producers.

You can check out the interview here.

always thought that "Fables" would make a good HBO/Showtime series.

Posted by: Kurosawa on September 11, 2009 at 12:49:38

Maybe Gaiman's Sandman? Really hope this doesn't slow down development for some of DC's other superheroes. They really need to settle with Superman's creators as well.

Just so long as they are faithful adaptions and she doesnt ruin some of my favorite stories she can adapt anything she wants, whether it be animation of live action, I'm game for anything just get DC on the map!

She is still not really saying anything..

As long as Frank Miller and his All-Star Batman ideas stay away from Nolan and the movie franchise,and Grant Morrison is involved with the Superman movie as much as possible,Im down with that. Jeph Loeb and Grant Morrison team up with Peter Jackson to create an awesome Superman movie,would be a dream come true.

Re: we'll see

The formation of DC Entertainment is all that needs to be said. I'm more into Marvel, but I like DC too and I'm glad that they're getting it together.

Posted by: DireHavoc on September 11, 2009 at 13:24:43

The same Grant Morrison who f#cked up the XMEN story arcs? Introduced Damian Wayan..Batman's son?
And threw Final Crisis into a nose dive ultimately killing Batman which now
Geoff Johns (my favorite writer) has to bail him out of the crap story arc that lost readers. That Grant Morrison? No, go back to Marvel and have him go f#ck up their stories which he has been doing for the past couple years...leave DC alone all together. And stay away from their films. Grant Morrison writes what sounds good to Grant Morrison...nothing more.

I'm sure that Dianne is going to get some great results...for me to poop on!

I don't know,a lot of talk of Marvel there...It certainly sounds as though DC is running scared. Maybe the Marvel/Disney merger will have a bigger effect than previously thought...

@ DireHavoc

Morrison did good on the All-Star Superman arc. He aint that bad of writer. I dont like him for killing off Bruce Wayne though.

Posted by: DireHavoc on September 11, 2009 at 13:38:15

Geoff Johns in my view is a far FAR superior writer than Morrison. His ideas stem back to previous arcs and stories and turns B list villans into something spectatcular. His use of Black Atom, etc...Talked to him in person and he knows his stuff and how to keep fans/readers on edge. Look at Blackest Night right now. OMG if you're not reading it you should. It's incredible. See articles and interviews with Johns, he has over 5 years of stuff planned for the DCU.

JUST MAKE THE MOVIE OF THE FLASH!! HE DESERVES IT!

Posted by: DireHavoc on September 11, 2009 at 13:41:24

@ Mablelsaphone

Watch your mouth, no need for the language.
Grow up and speak like an adult or get out of the forum and go somewhere else. I'm commenting and one man writes the arc buddy. Morrison is freelance, and by the way..are you a writer for DC or an exec. ??
Didn't think so. All we know is he wrote the story.

Make more SUPERMAN movies with Brandon Routh as the main character, PLEASE.

SUPERMAN FOREVER

Posted by: DireHavoc on September 11, 2009 at 13:44:48

@Mablelsaphone

And I'm sure whenever a FULL story arc goes bad for any writer like House of M, Secret Invasion, or Final Crisis and Astonishing XMEN goes bunk, that was also the "companies" plan for an entire arc to spiral downward...read comics, don't flip to the end of a book to find out what happpens or read it in a forum. Morrison "planned" this out as read in Wizard on the arc.

Routh had his shot. Its time for someone else now

Posted by: Fanboiii on September 11, 2009 at 13:58:19

@CK

As if it's up to you, fool. It would depend on whoever becomes the director.

Posted by: mojojackson on September 11, 2009 at 14:31:01

No, it's time for Routh to make like horse manure and hit the dusty trail. He had his one movie, and the consensus has resulted in his moving along. Whether they adapt Smallville with Tom Welling or get someone new for the reboot, it's pretty clear that Routh was too controversial a choice with fans and moviegoers for WB to risk casting him again.

As for Vertigo, I'd like to see an adaptation of Death, either done in the style of MirrorMask or Coraline.

Posted by: Doc Savage on September 11, 2009 at 14:50:16

For all those Marvel boys, you tend to forget that there was only 2 good Marvel movies. Spiderman 2 and Ironman. Most of the rest was crap. On the other hand DC handling of there carachters as been constantly good since 2005 in movies. Its been near perfect in animation since 1992 and very good on TV for the longest time. All Marvel animated stuff is just plain horrible. Marvel is gona bite the dust thats for sure.

Posted by: daniel clavette on September 11, 2009 at 14:50:30

I will to see more superman with brandon routh he is truly amazing and he is great as superman for millenium series and i hope to see the green lantern,the flash,wonder woman,green arrow,aquaman to the big screen in the future.

I could care less about vertigo, get off your @$$es WB and start putting out MAINSTREAM DC comicbook films. I'm sick of these ****ing press releases covering all of thier grand plans, all I've heard for the last 5 years out of WB is TALK. Do something already!

Posted by: Fanboiii on September 11, 2009 at 17:27:31

@shadow of the bat

stop crying, it takes a lot of time a work to make good movies and to run a business. they're not working just to please your schedule, you brat.

and last 5 years? within that time, they put out The Dark Knight, top grossing comic book movie ever, and Watchmen, considered unfilmable. cry all you want but no one's going to give you great movies just because you whine about it.

Posted by: Ranting Jaromir on September 11, 2009 at 17:50:57

Wow, how did this conversation turn into a DC vs. Marvel entertainment argument? Does sound like a bunch of high school geeks ranting about nothing they have control over.

Posted by: Wolverine_X on September 11, 2009 at 19:04:49

At least this is not the sh+t of Disney messing up things like ending Marvel. Way to go DC.

Posted by: Kryptonite Web on September 11, 2009 at 19:41:59

DC Should Make The Justice Leauge Movie instead of a stupid Superman movie that will suck.
