Hancock 2 Screenwriters Hired
August 24, 2009
Columbia Pictures has hired screenwriters Adam Fierro and Glen Mazzara to pen Hancock 2, the sequel to the Will Smith superhero movie that grossed $624.4 million worldwide last year.
The Hollywood Reporter says the original producing team is expected to return.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, though the writers will work with Smith and director Peter Berg to build on the world hinted at in the first movie.
Fierro spent several seasons as a writer-producer on FX's "The Shield" and also worked on Fox's "24" and Showtime's "Dexter."
Mazzara was a showrunner on Starz's "Crash," wrote for NBC's "Life" and worked with Fierro on "The Shield."

Boo.............Well it's movies like this that people go to and support and Hollywood just continues to churn out this kinda crap, hence we get a sequel. Just like that garbage G.I. Joe movie just put out.

I don't mind being the smartest man in the world, I just wish it wasn't this one.

Hancock isn't mindless action. It's a fresh take on the superhero movie genre. When have you ever seen Superman get into trouble of the kajillions of dollars of damage he caused?

yawn, boring movie, could have used the time for other superhero flicks

All you b1tch3s will still go see it in groups with your boy frandz, or with a rent a date.
Ya know, the kind you just spend money on because you have to in order for them to go with you places.
You'll watch it again one way or the other and you might even still like it.

The Director's cut was really good ! It's nice to see Shield writers taking a shot at Hancock 2. :)

the plot was so good and could have done so much with it, but instead they ruined it. Could have been a really great movie and character. Plus, didnt like Will Smith for that Character.

I'm willing to see the mythos the first movie started expanded. I hope they get him boozing again.

$624...omg...Will Smith is bank, but the movie was garbaggggggge

What a piece of crap Hancock was.
It's annoying having to hear about another one being made.
What a complete waste of time and money.
Just some film studio trying to cash in on the superhero movie craze by coming up with a halfass concept and story.
I like Will Smith, I wish he would stay away from this junk.

I wish yall stop hating on Hancock. It was a decent movie, not the best but it was decent. They need to do a part 2 to this. I like the plot and it is so much you can write on this. I hope they dont **** this one up.

Why does garbage like this get a sequel? Surely something like 'The Incredible Hulk' is far more worthy of another movie, not some awful half assed Will Smith vehicle. Smith needs to just go away, right now

The first film would have been better if it had been a comedy/action film, instead we had a superhero film with a character that sulked the whole way through!! Cant say i feel it deserves a sequel? and im wondering on what basis someone else feels that it does?

Serenity Now!!!!!!!

Superhero...riddle me this. If The Incredible Hulk was so good, why did Hancock made more money at the box office when they both came out in 2008? Hancock was the Number 4 movie and The Incredible Hulk was Number 17.

I really liked the first half of hancock, but once he tried to be more nice, it kinda got boring.
Anywho, I think its sad a sequel to this is already in the works while Supes still sits in limbo.

I'm on the fence about this sequel. I think there is some stuff to build on from the first one, but at the same time the end of the first one didn't flow well with the lore establised within it.

Re:Supernova
Hancock
Domestic: $227 million
Foreign: $396 million
Total: $624 million
The Incredible Hulk
Domestic: $134 million
Foreign: $128 million
Total: $263 Million
Now do you understand why?
Posted by: Rob on August 25, 2009 at 08:51:10
Ergghhhhh. Really? I know Hancock made a lot of money but is anyone who paid to see the first stupid enough to do the same for a sequel? I love Jason Batemen and Will Smith (and I actually think Peter Berg is alright when he's directing from a decent script) but I'd much rather see their talents put to use in something worth making.
I know they thought this was a fresh take on superheroes but it was actually just a conventional super hero film that was incoherent. Drunk super hero is not an original idea and does not constitute a fresh take.

Did the first one really warrant a sequel?
Well, I guess they *did* make a Fantastic Four 2...

damn straight i go with rent-a-dates. thats how i met your sister.

The sequel should be the story that happens INSTEAD of the second half of the first movie. I was at least entretained by the first half of handcock, but then someone had a mental breakdown and took the story apart.
