Ernie Hudson ("Oz," Ghostbusters) has joined NBC's "Heroes" in a recurring role, says The Hollywood Reporter.

He will play Captain Lubbock, a Baltimore detective. Lubbock is reportedly on the hunt for one of the other characters on the show.

Hudson has played a detective in a recurring role on ABC's "Desperate Housewives." He also played a senior deputy on ABC's dramedy "10-8: Officers on Duty."

That's a big Twinkie.

That doesn't really make me feel anything in particular, but I've always liked Ernie Hudson. I want so desperately for Heroes to be awesome again. I'm not in the camp who thinks it's completely terrible now, but I have to acknowledge that the writing has been less than satisfying recently.

Hmm. I haven't seen or heard anything about him in a long time ... should be interesting. Maybe I'll watch these episodes.

Warden Leo Glynn is coming to Heroes? Say goodbye to some of your favorite characters, because characters die by the truckload on his watch.

The Heroes series has gone from my favorite of all to a simply "not bad" series...They need a serious kick in the b*** to make me feel happy again...is Ernie the answer???

Guys, let's go get the packs...let's go get the packs...

I can't wait for: "Even though I may or may not watch Heroes, I am going to say that this show sucks and my opinion counts" from individuals.

Type cast much? He was a cop in The Crow too.

Posted by: Solidsnake on August 12, 2009 at 08:30:40

Was a NY cop in "the Cowboy Way"...

Hey at last he is making a living.

Winston was always my second favorite Ghostbuster after Venkman. Why? Because it was a blue collar job for him. An everyman who was educated but not in the aspect of the paranormal. That made him brave because he was tackling THE UNKNOWN in his book - for $11,500 a year (back in 84).

Anywho. Good for him. Seems like as Winston would say he's the only GB getting a "Steady Paycheck".

umm... u don't REALLY need me to go there, do ya?! Ohh, okay... *sigh*...

That would be the writing for THAT show: this is a completely different animal! Maybe, just maybe, they'll script this NEW character as being a heck of a lot more competent...

...just a thought.

Not related to heroes however, I Spoke to Ernie "winston zeddemore" Hudson the other day at wizard world of chicago and asked what was going on with GB3? Contrary to popular belief, Bill Murray very much wants to do it along with the rest of the cast however, the studio wants to rush it. Ernie and the rest of the cast do not want a GB2 in terms of storyline and want to recapture the magic of the first movie hench the reason for the holdout until they all think it the right story.

Who cares? Heroes is one of the worst shows on TV. They should cancel it and spare us from the bull**** storylines.

Show me a Ghostbusters TV series - then I'm interested.

Posted by: nunya on August 12, 2009 at 11:57:10

@ ambassadorz

They already did that. It's called Ghostbusters: The Game and it was released a month or two ago. It featured all the cast and wove together many of the plot lines from the first two movies. It was awesome and felt VERY MUCH like GB3, so I don't know what they would do for a third live-action movie.

Heroes is a Monday night staple. I'll watch it even if it isn't as good as it used to be. Ernie rocks...

Oz Fan:

Hell yeah! Bring Adebisi in! He's too good for G.I.Joe. (Actually, he's too good for Heroes, too, but one thing at a time.)

The death spiral of Heroes continues with even more lame stunt-casting.

Posted by: spooie on August 12, 2009 at 13:12:48

Is this going to be like the earth shattering news that Bruce Boxlietner was joining the cast of Heroes, only to have appear on the show for a total of about 4 minutes in 2 episodes?

Posted by: A sphincter says what...?!? on August 12, 2009 at 14:06:24

something needs to happen to save that shipwreck.
If anything it serves as how a great concept can be ruined by inept writers.

Posted by: MisterFantastic on August 12, 2009 at 14:55:32

He was a cop in Airheads as well. Let's not forget that movie gem.

I'm happy to hear that Ernie Hudson is appearing on Heroes Season 4. I remember Ernie Hudson from Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II as Winston Zeddmore. I think Heroes need more than just good actors and actresses but, good character dialoguing and story. Actor, Ray Park who is in GIJOE:Rise Of Cobra will be playing a bad guy of Milo Ventimiglia's character(Peter Petrelli) in the fourth Season of Heroes. You, guys better hurry because, Smallville Seaon 9 and 10 are already in development. Hayden Panettiere was one of the reasons I liked Heroes so much. I was at Edward's Imax Theaters 3 years ago, and I saw Hayden's face on the poster. I thought heyyyy I know about that girl it's Cheryl Yoast all grown up Hayden "Claire Bear" Panettiere so cute I'm in love Hayden.

love Ernie Hudson. he's seen s$%# that'll turn you white.

Posted by: Cannon on August 12, 2009 at 20:49:56

Heroes is still on? I thought it went off air after the writer's strike. Maybe it just seemed that way...
