AMC and Darabont are Adapting The Walking Dead!
August 12, 2009
AMC is close to finalizing one of the richest development deals ever with Frank Darabont to write and direct a series adaptation of the Image Comics graphic novel series "The Walking Dead," written by Robert Kirkman.
Variety says that Gale Anne Hurd of Valhalla Motion Pictures and David Alpert of Circle of Confusion are also on board to executive produce.
The story is set among a group of zombie survivors of an apocalypse who are led by a police officer, Rick Grimes, in search of a safe place to live.
AMC Senior Vice President of Programming Joel Stillerman said the series will stay faithful to the tone of the original novels. "This is not about zombies popping out of closets. This is a story about survival, and the dynamics of what happens when a group is forced to survive under these circumstances. The world (in 'Walking Dead') is portrayed in a smart, sophisticated way."

Couldn't have picked a better director/writer than Frank Darabont!
I loved The Mist and no doubt Darabont will please the masses with The Walking Dead movie.
This is great news.

AMC Senior Vice President of Programming Joel Stillerman said the series will stay faithful to the tone of the original novels. This means they will keep the zombies, and make it into 90210 with zombies.

Breaking Bad that's all I have to say to you YoungBloodhater
Posted by: Nunya on August 12, 2009 at 02:50:18
I know, Lynx. I hate these idiots whose only comments are they're going to make such and such a 90210 with whatever. Or they say - it's going to be have a emo soundtrack or whatnot.
First of all - this guy, Youngbloodhater, is a moron who just wants to rile people up. If he knew anything he would know AMC doesn't screw around with their seris. I mean Breaking Bad and Mad Men are two phenomenal series with many, many kudos and fans. Plus - this is being overseen by Frank Darabont who couldn't make a bad movie if he tried.
And Batchat - you're the type of person that just looks for stuff to b*tch about. You had nothing else to add? Go roll down the stairs.

One of my all time favorite novel! I knew it was just a matter of time before it is adopted into the big screen! Can't wait.
Posted by: Nunya on August 12, 2009 at 03:32:11
It's not coming to the big screen. It's going to be a television series on AMC.

This is great news, hope they stay true to the source material.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was hoping that they would make this into a series. It would be terrible as a movie. There is way too much to cram into 2 hours. Brilliant!!!!! I can't wait!!

Thats awesome news! I've recently started reading this series and was hooked after the first issue.

Okaaaay, complaining that SuperHeroHype is giving news on comic book related media. Last time I checked, superheroes were kinda what DOMINATES comic books, by and large. So, yeah. Brainlessness ftw.

This could be the ultimate awesome, and the thing that makes me finally get cable/satellite.
Here's hoping it keeps true to one of the two BEST comics out today(the other being Invincible).

WOW! this will kick Major ass, I was hoping for a movie trilogy or something but a series will be even better, But I really hope they spend a little more time about life inside the prison than the comics did.

Wicked. Can't wait.
...
And yes, Batchat, shut up.
Posted by: Spidey Snooch on August 12, 2009 at 09:50:45
**** yeah! I'm so glad they're doing a series rather than a movie. I guess I need to pick up the Vol. 10 TPB and catch myself up. I don't know about anyone else, but I want the guy who played Deacon Palmer on "King of Queens" to play Tyrese.
Posted by: Marcus on August 12, 2009 at 10:01:47
@ Spidey Snooch- Really good suggestion, he would be perfect in personality, may need bulk up a bit. Don't have a clue who would play rick, but they best not let me down. Should be amazing!
Posted by: CaptainStacy on August 12, 2009 at 10:21:52
Awesome! This i cannot wait to see!
