August 7, 2009

MySpace has debuted this new poster for Warner Bros. Pictures' Whiteout, hitting theaters on September 11th. Directed by Dominic Sena, the suspense thriller stars Kate Beckinsale, Gabriel Macht, Columbus Short, Alex O'Loughlin, Shawn Doyle and Tom Skerritt.

In the adaptation of the graphic novel, Beckinsale plays Carrie Stetko, the lone U.S. Marshal assigned to Antarctica, who is investigating the continent's first murder, which draws her into a shocking mystery. Now, with only three days until winter, Carrie must solve the crime before Antarctica is plunged into darkness and she is stranded with the killer.

I've seen the trailer for the movie, and it looks really cool (no pun intended). It seems to be putting a little bit of sci-fi in there as well, ala John Carpenter's The Thing, but maybe the trailer was a little misleading on that. It had a lot of other attributes to the Thing, though. After all, mysterious murders, people not who they appear to be, and the claustrophobic feel of the weather closing in on you when there's a bad guy somewhere too. All in all, it looks like a definite see for me.

Jeremy, I felt the same way too. The movie seems like it has a good premise and upon initially reading I too thought of The Thing. Dn't think it's actually like that though since the killer seems to be an actual human. Neve have read the graphic novel so I really don't know. Will definitely go see it though.

After seeing this 2 years ago at Comic-con it's finally coming out.

Does she ever not look amazing, the trailer looked ok, but since Kate is in it I am going to see it.

This could be Kate's last action! (Just kidding!) Go check it out!

Kate Beckinsale is beautifull. Love her. This kind of posters are getting to repetitive. I think it's gonna be another kind of direct to DVD movie.

Posted by: Wolverine_X on August 8, 2009 at 08:00:50

Whiteout almost equals The Thing. Antarctica, snow, dead people, something in there with them. Pratically the same.

Posted by: Wolverine_X on August 8, 2009 at 08:05:02

Like Jeremy and the Jester are saying, this is going to be a sort of The Thing 2. AVP 1 was also on the snow. This is getting stereotyped. Need new ideas...

There is no Sci-Fi about this film.

Its based on a comic book by Greg Rucka who does Detective Comics and Gotham Central among others.
The only thing that resembles John carpenters the Thing is the Antarctic setting.

She play's a cop looking for a human killer before the sun sets for six months.
There is a second book and currently the 3rd part is being written. The whole story of her character takes place over a 10 year period.

Kate is smokin hot and I will see it.

that looks like liz hurley more than kate bekinsale

Why didn't they stick with the original poster, or at least something closer to the Comic Con one from a couple years back? I believe it was a take on a Frank Miller cover to the trade paperback or something. It may have been a little Sin City-esque, but it was a hell of a lot more interesting than THIS. This new poster tells you absolutely nothing and looks like it could be for anything from a cheap horror movie to a Sandra Bullock drama.

Whats this haft to do with Comics?

The poster layout is IDENTICAL to the poster of Memoirs of a Geisha. Funny.

Darkness??????? Antarctica, the ice is melting, earth biggest enviromental damage due to mankind

Does anyone not think this just sounds like the lead up to '30 Days of Night' Lone U.S Marshall investigating their first murder, before its plunged into darkness, for about lets say 30 days, until the next Ryanair flight is available to take her to an airport that is 35 miles away from her destination, but she can paid €5 for a one way bus ticket from the airport......sorry now im just rambling....but yeh, still '30 Days of Night' in my opinion.

How is it that the people who don't care (or know) about ANYTHING are the fastest to post so they can tell everyone they don't know or care about anything?

How is it that the people who don't know or care about anything are the first to tell us that they don't know or care about anything?
