Wired magazine has debuted this new featurette on the science-fact behind Surrogates, the Jonathan Mostow-directed sci-fi thriller opening in theaters on September 25.
In the film, FBI agents (Bruce Willis and Radha Mitchell) investigate the mysterious murder of a college student linked to the man who helped create a high-tech surrogate phenomenon that allows people to purchase unflawed robotic versions of themselves—fit, good looking remotely controlled machines that ultimately assume their life roles—enabling people to experience life vicariously from the comfort and safety of their own homes. The murder spawns a quest for answers: in a world of masks, who's real and who can you trust?

The only thing more annoying than Dark Knight fanboys are Blade Runner fanboys. Just because it concerns androids doesn't mean it is imitating BR. BR itself wasn't totally original anyways. It completely ripped Metropolis production design and the idea of a robot replacing a human from the android of Maria.

Let's be serious here...the MOST annoying fanboys are the dark knight fanboys....those freaks think that it can do no wrong...clearly overlooking it's NUMEROUS faults.

um.....now that's scary and freaking cool! If a person pushes his own surrogate off the empire state building, is it considered suicide, murder, or just pushing your surrogate off a building?
If a surrogate commits a crime, does the surrogate suffer the consequences or does the person controlling the surrogate?
I could go on with these kind of questions....but you get the point.

Good comic. It looks like the movie may be a bit different from the other trailers but it shouldnt hurt the overall idea of the surrogate world. Really looking forward to it. Check out the comic if you get the chance worth the read.

Obviously a surrogate is in essence, a lifeless object so the controller would be the one who goes to jail in that event. Essentially it's like a car vs. a driver. We don't hold cars responsible for crimes committed on the road, we hold the drivers responsible.
