Source:Screen Gems
August 3, 2009

Sony's Screen Gems has brought online an official website for the Scott Stewart-directed Priest adaptation which gives us a first look at Paul Bettany in the film.

Scheduled to open on August 13, 2010, the film is an adaptation of the TokyoPop comic book. The story is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampire and follows a warrior priest (Bettany) who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece. Cam Gigandet co-stars.

I'm a little upset that the story isn't the same as the comic. But its still looks pretty cool, hopefully it works out :-)

i don't even know anything about this graphic novel so i'm not gonna judge, but the poster doesn't look very interesting to me at all.

The church is going to come out with daggers for this one.

poster looks good.. i like paul bettany hes underrated like crazy

Paul Bettany is one of the greatest, and most (unfortunatly) under rated actors of our time. I will see this movie just because he is in it. In fact I would go see anything he is in...it could be him playing "Blanch" in a all drag "Golden Girls" remake and I would go see it!

Haha... I have that font! I've used it for some logos in the past.

Looks cool......I'm afraid people may look at this the wrong way and not go see it.

I swear...troll 'bots just crack me up. I'm sure the "big & tall" models will just get a great big ol' hoot outta this!

Looks like a whitened up version of Jae Lee's Hellshock.

Posted by: T Bone on August 3, 2009 at 11:08:54

Ummm what is this comic? Tokyo something...sigh

It might be good, but I dont like these movies based on graphic novels, watchmen for instance, stick to the normal superheroes

Posted by: Shroud462 on August 3, 2009 at 11:53:46

if a minor detail, like long hair is to hard to bring to the screen, or what other reason the try to use, what ealse gets cut.

that poster looks like a photo shoped fan made, and not a great one at that. it dose nothing for me

i like this man, but he or his agent make bad choices

Posted by: Nerf Herder on August 3, 2009 at 12:35:03

HA HA HA. All this time I was thinking he was playing "Preacher". Huh. Fail.

p.s. Preacher woulda been cooler I think

Posted by: robotmaniac6 on August 3, 2009 at 13:45:56

Didn't he play Silas, the Albino Monk in the movie "The Davinci Code"?

I really like Paul Bettany, but I don't remember much about vampires in the Priest comics... maybe I should read them again. Oh well we'll see *crosses fingers*

Hey Mojo, my dream is that a serious director would take that storyline of HellShock and make it into a movie, that would be the shizzzzz!

Posted by: Azreal71 on August 3, 2009 at 17:28:30

@ Dr. Metal:

Where the hell did you get that font from?

Posted by: Batchat on August 3, 2009 at 19:25:07

Gettin pretty sick of all the vampire stuff..does anyone still get excited about another movie about killing vampires? You can't beat Interview with a Vampire so why even bother.

Posted by: mojojackson on August 4, 2009 at 00:37:30

Azreal71:

Hell yeah! A Hellshock film would be badass!

Batchat:

I agree, Interview was one of the best Vampire flicks ever made, but I don't see that as a reason to stop making Vampire films altogether. What sense would it make to abolish an entire genre on the basis that a really cool film in that genre has been made?Fantasy films would've begun and ended with Wizard Of Oz!

Besides, have you checked out True Blood on HBO? In my opinion it's the best Vampire story adapted to screen (though the small screen, not the big one) since Interview.

Posted by: kevin smith on August 4, 2009 at 01:00:59

this would b a fine vampire flick if it wasnt based off a comic that is all about demons..all hollywood knws how 2 do is screw up most video/ comic book adaptations..guess the world is all about $$$ and selling out..the american way

Posted by: Jere: Master of the Universe on August 4, 2009 at 01:03:59

@mojojackson

I agree with you on True Blood but I do have to say that vampire movies are a bit over done. I'm not sayin they should quit making them all together, I just think we need a break from them. Give me a good werewolf movie or two. bring another zombie movie, something! Every since Twilight came out movie companies have been pissing themselves for vampire movies. The only vampire movie I'm really super excited for right now is Chan-Wook Park's new movie "thirst" and thats just because it will be the first Korean vampire movie I've ever seen... not to mention that I love Chan-Wook Park movies, it'll be like "Oldboy" but with vampires :P
