who?

Posted by: Luke on November 26, 2008 at 13:57:37

I thought you meant someone had been cast as Green Lantern. XP Meh!

Posted by: ClarkK on November 26, 2008 at 14:11:59

this movie is gonna rock, and by rock i of course mean SUCK!

Posted by: Adam M on November 26, 2008 at 14:12:16

@ Luke

LOL, i totally thought it was a green lantern casting call too! ..glad I wasn't the only one.

will somebody go and ask him how the Punisher aims two guns at the same time when not looking in either direction? grrr..hate that scene in an otherwise entertaining trailer.

How incestuous for the same actor to play various people in comics. It would be like Cyclops playing different characters in two unique franchises.

Yeah, I also thought this was a casting announcement for Green Lantern, heh.
I remember when the last Punisher movie came out, and the actors were in town (during filming - I live in Tampa), and Tom Jane made his way up to Wonder Water Comics... everyone was freaking out.

The punisher has always used two guns, and has fired the simultaneously many times. He's a comic book character.

EAT LEAD! There is a reason this movie isn't being premoted more. It's going to be a sleeper. R Rated and plenty of blood, we are now of the the simpering, I just lost my family Frank Castle, and are now on to the guy who wants to spray bad guys brains on the walls.

Posted by: Mayatiz on November 26, 2008 at 18:32:46

come on guys! give the movie break...IMO i think it will do great!

although the marketing if the movie is a bit weak? Marvel's too busy with the sequels and Avenger...i remember it correctly, there was a scene in Punisher: War Journals that Capt. America got to train him? he's quite a valuable character in Marvel Universe.

Is it just me or does a young Scott Hall with greased back hair look more like Punisher than Ray Stevenson does?

3 of the people that left the project said the script sucked including Thomas Jane.

I will keep my fingers crossed this new Punsiher can make a profit, and for the love of all holy when will this movie be released in the U.K?

P.S. Where is the original music of the movie not the rock cd version?

Posted by: CaptainDippy on November 26, 2008 at 21:39:16

You know, Christian Bale was an Emerald Knight until I reset my Color and Contrast settings.

Had to think about this for a minute here...
Judging by the name, and obviously this is just wild conjecture, but "Emerald Knight" sounds like it would lean towards DC Comics, and if that is the case, it's kind of ironic that they would have the star of the newest Marvel film to appear at the grand opening.

@NOT A TUMOR + @Mantronix
I'd imagine that this will have similar reception to the 2004 Punisher. That movie came out on the same weekend as Kill Bill vol. 2, another revenge story.
He's not one of the more popular comic book characters these days, and that goes against him. Let's also look at something very important: it has an extreme R-rating. I'm willing to bet that some parents will still take their kids to go see it anyway, but not too many. Another factor is the average time a movie spends in the theatres these days. Tropic Thunder was one of this years favorites, but here in Tampa, it stayed in theatres for about a month and a half.

Honestly, I don't see a future for the Punisher in film-making, even if this one is successful. The material is repetitive, predictable, and kind of bland. My sister watched the red-band trailer for the first time and asks: "why are they making another one? he already got his revenge."
I explained that no, this isn't a sequel, it's a reboot, and that his mission isn't to take revenge for his family's murder, but to "punish" all of the corrupt.
But you know, it's going to get old really fast. I hope Marvel lets the Punisher have this movie and buries him. I'm not a fan of the Punisher, but I have a healthy respect for the character to not want to see him become a cultural taboo.

So with that said, I'm going to happily wait for the DVD, which will probably make more money than the theatrical release... probably in March or April.

everybody reading this...

this movie will be good
believe me.

i'm not a big punisher fan, but the movie with thomas jane was pretty good as far as the material would allow. thing is, it looked decent from the trailers too as i recall. that's why i actually went to the theater to see it. this looks like absolute crap judging by the trailers i've seen. i know you can't tell everything about a movie from the trailers, but you can usually tell when there's really really bad dialogue and acting and that's what i saw. not going to see this one... and i probably won't even rent it on dvd unless i hear a lot of really good reviews from people who have seen it. i don't usually go by others' oppinions, but i don't see anything else that would make me even give it a chance. just looks awful.

i think this movie is going to suck. on a positive note, i think it will do way better than blade three.

The Comedian - I belive you buddy but can we just forget about the whole "I pushed you through the window of your apartment" mess?

If this one makes any kind of profit, they'll keep churning them out. Period.

hey Shayera,
you and your sister are stupid. quiet down please.

Posted by: Barracuda Smiles on November 27, 2008 at 20:25:56

As a Punisher Max series fan I have to say it would be a shame if the whole awesomeness of it goes to **** because of this movie. People will start saying:"Oh, they already did the Punisher Classic, the Punisher MAX and the Marvel Knights, nothing else to do". And I will be PO.

Glad to hear it.Ray Stevenson`s Punisher is straight out of the pages of the War Zone series(appropriately enough) and the Garth Ennis Max series.Punisher:War Zone is what the Punisher was always meant to be.Vegeance has a name, indeed.
