Guggenheim Talks Green Lantern Script
September 12, 2008
Almost a year ago it was announced that Greg Berlanti was set to direct the live-action take on DC Comics' Green Lantern, which he would write with Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green.
Now, Guggenheim has given ComicCon.com an update:
"I've been working my ass off on Green Lantern," he said, then laughed. "I'm ready for a weekend off. I really can't say too much about it. I've sworn a blood oath of secrecy. I will tell you it features Hal Jordan and is an incredibly faithful rendition of the character. It honors everything everyone loves about the hero. We approach it from a fan's perspective. Every step of the way, we ask ourselves what we want to see and what the fans will want to see. I think we have a script that will actually satisfy on those levels. Right now I'm just doing a rewrite for the studio with Greg [Berlanti] and Michael [Green]. We'll turn that in next week. We just keep moving forward. It's really good stuff!"
Green Lantern was created in 1940. Hal Jordan, a second-generation test pilot, is an ordinary man who has been charged with defending a sector of the universe.

Not bad at all, i just can't wait..Green Lantern is the man.

If they stick to the comic version and stay true to the story then it will rock! It doesn't need to be "Dark", it needs to be as real as it can be. This why Dark Knight is kicking tail, every character is done to near perfection and the story nails it.
Keep it to the story and give us fans what we want to see and we go to the theaters early and often!!!

Luckily, I like Marc Guggenheim as a comic writer, but Geoff Johns should have been asked to write this instead.

I hope Green lantern will beat the hell out of Iron man
lol

I'm trying not to get too excited about this film in case in turns out crappy, but the recent positive script review is making it difficult.

"in darkest day, in darkest night,
no evil shall escape my sight,
let those who worship evil's might,
beware my power, green lantern's light!"

We heard this BS before have we not? I will believe it when I see it.

This is great news. I was hoping they were going to go with Hal. Cant wait for this. It looks like DC is finally stepping up

Finally. They NEED to get the Ball Rolling on this one. I just know a Dorkgasim of Monumental Propertions will follow when I hear the Oath Spoken on the Big Screen...
"In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight.
Let those who worship evil's might,
Beware my power...Green Lantern's light!"

I'd rather see John Stewart then Hal Jordan.
But then again they could go to him later in sequels I guess. That would be better fitting to the story line.

Yes yes, things are starting to shape up. Introduce Hal and then bring on the GL Corps and Sinestro and make it a whole universe of lanterning badass fights.
I am excited about this :)

I Believe they are going to do Hal Jordan in this film, and do John Stewart in the Justice Leauge Film. So it doesn't interfer with each other.
AND THIS JUST IN FROM THE WIKIPEDIA PAGE ON THE JUSTICE LEAUGE FILM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Concerning the eponymous Justice League,
The O.C. star Adam Brody had been cast as Barry Allen / The Flash.
D. J. Cotrona as Clark Kent / Superman,
rapper Common as John Stewart / Green Lantern,
Australian supermodel Megan Gale as Diana Prince / Wonder Woman,
Newcomer Armie Hammer was controversially to be cast as Bruce Wayne/ Batman,
with Heroes actor Santiago Cabrera as Arthur Curry / Aquaman,
and Hugh Keays-Byrne playing J'onn J'onzz / Martian Manhunter.
Teresa Palmer and Zoe Kazan had been cast in the supporting roles of Talia Al Ghul and Iris Allen respectively."

John Stewart!!! Come on!!! Atleast cast him in the movie, so he can become the GL in a sequel

Who would be a good person to play Hal Jordan??
Posted by: hurdy gurdy man on September 12, 2008 at 11:30:50
who should play hal jordan/gl?
i think jake gylenhall would be a great choice. he is a great actor and was da bomb in flicks like 'zodiac' and 'october sky', lets just hope 'prince of persia' doesnt suck balls.
what do yall think?
p.s. and johnny depp for sinestro, not the riddler.i think that would be good casting too.

First off, who? the Oath is "In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night"
Second J.Orge a lot of us have known about the Justice League cast list since last year, and because of that cast cause a lot of fan up roar, and when the writers strike happened, the film has been scrapped.
Third I can't wait for this movie I am a huge Green Lantern fan, I just hope they do it true to the comics.

greetings from the Caribbean...wow...you guys are really nerds to be chanting the phrase of the lantern but it's still cool. Jim caviezel would be a great hal jordan or if you go younger, why not David boreanz or Wentworth miller...hmmmm!! they can even cameo a young Kyle Rayner (Jack from Jack and Bobby) or even Derek "John Stewart" Luke. you guys...common would be a better villain than a hero..get real!

GREEN LANTERN HAS NO LIMITS!
Posted by: Mudkicker on September 12, 2008 at 11:37:17
There are really only two people suited to play Hal Jordan. Either David Boreanaz of Angel fame or Nathan Fillion from Firefly. They fit the character type and look of Hal Jordan.
Nuff Said.
Posted by: Raiden on September 12, 2008 at 11:38:33
how about Aaron Eckhart or Josh Hartnett as Hal Jordan/GL?
Posted by: Ulic Queldroma on September 12, 2008 at 11:41:53
They should use the Emerald Dawn storyline. My friend says that it would make an amazing film.
Posted by: ch'p on September 12, 2008 at 11:42:22
this is good news, but i'm really dying to see a glc movie. if they at least show the guardians instead of hinting about them through abin sur like galactus was only alluded to in ff, that would be good. if this thing grows into sequels with outer space epics, it would do TONS to revitalize dc canon for the movies. the downside i predict is to show hal is a man devoid of fear, they'll cast some young oc twerp to do a bunch of fast and the furious stunt crap for the first 20 minutes. keep it serious, keep him a test pilot. this thing has massive potential. please don't screw it up.
and thanks for not using stewart, or jack black.

Emerald Dawn sucked. It's the reason the greatest Green Lantern writer ever 'Geoff Johns' has retold the origin in Secret Origin.
