Interesting. I don't know how I feel about this one but I'm sure I'll check it out anyway.

I'm convinved this movie will blow people away when they see it.
I'm there

Posted by: shane420nsf on May 3, 2008 at 01:31:34

that was pretty cool-made me think about shroomin as well-and the pod race from episode 1.

Not a huge fan of the music.... but i guess they're throwing back to the cartoon. Speaking of episode 1... that yipee at the beginning of the clip sounded painfully familiar...

Otherwise, this looks pretty bad ass to me. I'll be there.

This movie has been getting a lot of bad criticism on here but I think this will be a very fun movie. I'm sure the action and fx will be top of the line also.

This movie probably isn't for all tastes, but it definitely fits mine...it looks like this will go down in the "instant classic" section of my DVD library. I agree with shane420nsf that it is reminiscent of pod racing. It also reminds me a little of Mario Kart.

Posted by: BDJ on May 3, 2008 at 03:05:17

Yo...ugh.

If Mario Kart was to get a REALLY lame remake in live-action...this would be it.

Holy snap, this movie could surpass Superman IV as the worst movie ever.

Once you take away reality completely, you're free to do anything... I think they've handled this perfectly. Should be full of obscene action, and there's nothing wrong with that!

Posted by: Tighelander on May 3, 2008 at 04:01:30

yeah, but if it's full of obscene action, it won't be suitable for the kids!!!

Posted by: shane420nsf on May 3, 2008 at 04:10:40

BDJ-Superman IV is indeed the worst movie ever-but have you ever seen Jaws 4??? cuz that one is right up there-
absolute worst movie ever is "Shock Treatment"-the lttle known but official "sequel" to The Rocky Horror Picture Show-absolutely terrible!!!

speaking of Rocky Horror, I can't believe Susan Saranden is speed's mom-she was really good in "Enchanted",btw...

Looks great ! I'm taking the whole family to see it.
Not listening to the highbrow critics and the naysayers who feel threatened by anything different from the status quo.
Superman? - sucked.
Most of the Batman movies III? - sucked.

Studio-created predatory formulas designed to satiate only the weakest-minded, while still gobbling up our entertainment dollars.

Booooooring. Conventional. Easy.

Lets see something new...

GO SPEED GO !

Wow, it looks like 'The Fast and the Furious' directed by Wes Anderson. A car racing movie with no regard for physics; it's the worst idea ever. And the worst movie ever is 'Fantasy Mission Force' starring Jackie Chan (not even his skills could save it, it's so bad).

Posted by: 2sday on May 3, 2008 at 10:30:54

This movie looks crazy-awesome.

Also looks like it has more action then Iron Man.

Posted by: speedracer216 on May 3, 2008 at 10:43:03

Roy Stalin: HAHAHAHAHAHA - fantasy mission force! that seriously is the worst movie ever. lol

as for the trailer: the good? i like the music trying to emulate the original show. the bad? EXTREMELY stiff dialogue.

the first announcer in a yellow suit is peter fernandez...the voice of speed racer and racer x in the 1967 cartoon series U.S. version...this movie is full of nods from the orig cartoon...i´ll have to see the rest of the movie come may 9...

Posted by: Chewy on May 3, 2008 at 11:29:12

I think this movie is going to be the BOMB-DIGGITY!!Also worst movie ever is Justin Ninja Style. Movie Sucked

Posted by: Chewy on May 3, 2008 at 11:30:12

That was Justice Ninja Style... Sorry

Posted by: Alfonso on May 3, 2008 at 11:49:11

It looks a little to cartoonish for my taste. I'll still see it i'm sure. As far as worst movies go:

From Justin to Kelly
Gigli
Glitter
Crossroads (Britney Spears Movie)

Why do so many people have a problem with defying physics. 90% of fantasy, scifi, supernatural, and superhero movies defy physics. And so did the original Speed Racer cartoon. Plus, didn't you enjoy Kung Fu Hustle? Or any other martial arts movie where people fly through the air?

Posted by: GK1 on May 3, 2008 at 12:24:50

HOLY CRAP!!!

This is a PERFECT BLEND Of ACTION and the CARTOON!!!

I don't know HOW The hell they pulled this off but WATCHOWSKI'S YOU FREAKING DID IT!!!

Why do so many people assume that because someone has a problem with one movie in which the laws of physics are defied that these people should make a generalization about how someone feels about every movie in which the laws of physics are defied? Is that the only scale of quality to measure movies by? That would in fact make 'Kung Fu Hustle' and 'Speed Racer' automatically equal. The first though is a classic that I doubt will be rivaled by this new movie, or many others.

wow!!!
i actually want to see this movie now i wasnt interested at first but those shots are awsum and the way the cars move and the tracks...
im not old enough to have seen speed racer when i was younger, but i liked hot wheels lol

Posted by: justin on May 3, 2008 at 14:50:30

It looks good, but the scene with Speed and his brother was painfully acted. I hope Hirsch and Ricci can save it.
