April 20, 2007
At the Los Angeles press junket today, Spider-Man 3 director Sam Raimi confirmed that Sony Pictures is doing a 4th, 5th and 6th installment of the popular franchise.
We'll have his exact words shortly, but Raimi said that he hasn't had time to think of any involvement and he doesn't want to presume Sony would want him to direct.
He said there has to be a good story to tell and that "it'd be very hard to say goodbye to 'Spider Man.'"
Spider-Man 3 opens in conventional theaters and IMAX on May 4.

Creatively, Raimi is to the Spiderman movies like God is to the Bible

1 and 2 were awesome, but Raimi all but ruined the franchise with 3, as far as I'm concerned. If Raimi directs 4, I'll just wait for the DVD.

Sorry, but Raimi didn't ruin Spider-Man 3. You can thank Avi Arad and the Spider-Man fans for that. Fans cried for Venom despite the fact that Raimi already had a solid story involving Sandman and New Goblin. Avi told Raimi that he must have Venom because the fans demanded it. So, Raimi had to listen and he shoe-horned Venom into the script. And it's all due to Avi Arad and the stupid 12 year old fans who think Venom is the greatest Spider-Man villain ever.

Remember after Spider-Man came out, Raimi said he planned on making a smaller, more intimate Spider-Man 2, which is what we got. Of course, it ended up being one of the best superhero flicks ever made.
He or whoever directs the next 3 need to go in with that mindset. As does Sony and Avi Arad.

Yea, guess you shouldn't belive what gets posted on sites like this huh? Spider Man 4,5,6 yea not on your life, at least not with that hack Raimi, Spiderman 1 sucked, 2 was a toltal waste and 3 was one of the worst films ever made. These things made the Star Wars prequels look good. Fanboys are the only people who liked those films, they are ageing worse than the first Batman movie.

I would enjoy seeing a Sinister Six story line. I'd love to see Kraven, Vulture, Black Cat, Rhino and perhaps Electro up on the big screen.
It'd also be really cool to see JJJ's son become Man-Wolf.
but anyway . . .

... oh, and has anyone seen Billy Beneson???

yes Spiderman should continue 4 to 6 because it is the most popular superhero but Sam Raimi should not direct no.4 because he ruined no.3! Too much peter parker not enough spiderman and too much mask off! Why? Venom only 6 mins screen time! Why!? he should have major supervillian not small supervillian! Bring action director less soap opera less peter paker more spiderman much more excitiment. Sony studio i demand you do that!

**** Raimi, he ruined the franchise with Spidey 3.

Before you blame it all on Raimi, think about what Chris said, he absolutely right. Avi Arad is the one more responsible for sticking Venom in the movie and pushing it apart at the seams. Spidey 2 was fantastic and Raimi clearly had the right way to do it, but studio interfernce does not help.
BTW i might be wrong but the execs at Marvel also comissioned Elektra and gave MSJ Ghost Rider after the mediocre DD. I know who i would be blaming. However they seem to be improving with their tactics recently, Iron man, Thor, Hulk, etc.

I think Raimi did just fine with the first three, but I would like to see something fresh for the next trilogy. New blood would make it fresh again. New director, new cast, everything. I would like to see a Spider-Man closer to the Ultimate Spider-Man comics myself. I don't know if anyone else shares that interest.

they need to killoff that ugly ass kirsten. she is hard to look at!
Posted by: No to Sam Raimi on April 7, 2008 at 14:05:01
God, NO! Please do to rehire Sam Raimi as director for the next Spider-man trilogy. It needs a new director a completely new cast as well. Tobey Maguire's blubbering as Peter Parker in the last movie was ridiculous. The audience was literally laughing out loud and Raimi had him cry three times. And suddenly Peter can play the piano and dance? Pathetic.

Please....PLEASE...end the nightmare...stop the crying and the poor villains that really aren't bad you know, coz they have a sick daughter or a chip in their head...stop the nightmare...Spider-man is my favorite carachter of all time... Since Spider-man3, I've re-read the entire amazing spider-man series...and MAN, they missed the point. They made peter a wuss, a CRYING wuss. Peter is suppose to be STRONG.
and where are his friends?? Harry's dead...so what are they gonna do?? have him talk to the wall? we needed flah and betty and Liz...anyway...hope they screw up so bad with number 4 that they stop the franchise, only to give it birth again in 10 years with fresh ideas, like WB did with batman...
my two cents...
Posted by: Melies on April 7, 2008 at 14:12:22
BUT saying that...I have to admit that spider-man2 was pretty AMAZING

Scrap Raimi and Toblerone Maguire (have too much and it leaves you feeling ill) Bring in a new director that really gets the character, get Brian Michael Bendis to write the screenplay (have it really close to the ultimate Spiderman comics) and bring in Joseph Gordon Levitt as Peter and MAKE SURE SPIDEY IS FUNNY (Loads of quips - too the point where you almost want him to shut up)!
Hell yeah!

" Avi told Raimi that he must have Venom because the fans demanded it"
Me thinks Chris has grabbed the bull by the balls and no more needs to be said. SM3 makes batman and Robin look like great movie, well, maybe thats going a lil bit too far, but they both blew long and hard. 2 years waiting for that bs, it cant get any worse, can it?
Posted by: Ben on April 7, 2008 at 19:49:08
Chris, Venom was the very least of what was wrong with SM 3. Raimi ruined the franchise before Venom was even brought into the picture by enforcing his own off base view of what the film should be. He lost sight of what he should have been doing. Musical and dancing scenes. Give me a break. The only problem with Venom in the movie is that, again, Raimi, doesn't give a flying **** about the fans. So, what does he do? Pushes his own hate for the character and kills him off after about 5 minutes of screen time. Raimi isn't the only one to blame for the utter trash that SM 3 was, but he's definitely at the top of the list.

I think the biggest problem with Spidy 3 was they tried to to do much, meaning the movie had enough story to merit 2 movies. If it was me I would have ended the first part of the movie when Eddie gets infected and you first see Venom. Hopefully also they dont make spidy to corperate I mean come on kids dressing like him ugh. Please Please bring back Elizabeth Banks

Seriously dude, yeah Avi should have left him alone and let him make the movie he wanted, however, just because he interferred doesn't excuse Raimi for making such a ****ty movie. It was Raimi who gave Venom a ****ty origin in this film(randomly falls from space exactly where Peter and mary Jane are making out? Please... what the hell is that? Brock happens to be in the exact same church as Peter when he tries to remove his shirt. What shoulda happened is Brock should have followed Spiderman there(check out the 90s animated series it was done brilliantly!) and Sandman just happens to fall into the machine which turns him into sand. It was a little conveniant... and Queen Stacey just happens to be the stupid blonde girl who gets in pearl! And Peter was a ****en idiot throughout the movie. I didn't mind the crying, but his character was stupid. Raimi screwed it up not Avi, avi did nothing more than help a little bit in that department.
Sounds to me as if maybe Raimi is either dumb or had a pissy fit an decided to make a ****ty movie because of it, so **** Raimi!
