More Villains & Action in Superman Sequel?
Source:SCI FI Wire
January 16, 2007

SCI FI Wire chatted with Superman Returns co-writer Michael Dougherty who says there may be more than one villain in the sequel:

Michael Dougherty, co-writer of last year's Superman Returns, told SCI FI Wire that the upcoming sequel will feature at least one villain drawn from the DC Comics franchise. Or more than one? "Maybe," Dougherty said coyly in an interview on the set of his upcoming supernatural horror film Trick 'r Treat in Vancouver, Canada, on Jan. 15. "It's [Mr.] Myxyzptlk," he added, with tongue in cheek.

The full interview is available at the link above in which he also says you can expect more action.

there should only be one villain and that villain is Brainac. He would be a perfect obstacle for superman to have to defeat in a sequel.

The date on that news article says January 2007. That was like two years ago!! Lets get some current news up here!

"Mr. Myxyzptlk is the worst superman villian ever, please i hope he's not in the sequel i rather sm fight lex luthor again "

I agree. I'd rather see another Lex Luthor real estate plot than Mr. Whathisname, who is the worst villain in all of COMICS, let alone Superman.

I think Mr. Mxyzptlk could be a good secondary villain, something to add to a sub plot, but by no means a main villain. Main villain possibilities are Darkseid or Brainiac. Brainiac would be the best IMO.

I agree. Mr.Mxyzptlk is the stupidest villain in history. What the next movie needs is Doomsday or Darkseid. And I also dont even want to see Lex Luthor in the next movie. Not even as a secondary villian.

Oh man! Mr. Mxyptlk is the coolest! I can't believe they are picking him! He's like the only villian strong enough to beat superman.

Or Metallo, Darkseid, Brainiac, Lex Luthor, Superboy Prime, Krytonite Kid, Gorilla Grodd, Captain Cold, Orion as a bad new god from New genisis!

Oh no, not another movie with that same cast. It's sad when there's a better cast on a weekly series. You've got the greatest Lex Luthor and Clark Kent(next to the late Mr. Reeves) on Smallville. What another year to make the movie if you have to.

Superman is so lame though who really cares?

I think Routh did a good job as clark kent and a decent job as superman. There was just no action in the movie plus the whole lois has a superbaby plot arrrggghh!!! Special effects were great, music was superb just Lex Luthor AGAIN as the villan *sigh* i give up. Also why is this even on this site as a active topic??

I don't see any redeeming quality in SR, especially in Routh's acting.

Deathstar is correct! Smallville, a nine year-old show, still has more chutzpa and charm than the hack of work done by Singer. I absolutely loved the treatment give to the Legion! Awesome! And its a stupid TV show that I counted out for the count a few years ago.
