The WB Makes Aquaman Official
November 13, 2005
The Hollywood Reporter says Smallville executive producers Miles Millar and Alfred Gough are developing Aquaman for The WB:
The new project is envisioned as a contemporary reinterpretation of the DC Comics character who lives in the deep sea and enlists sharks and other oceanic creatures to help him in his crime-fighting endeavors.
The new-model Aquaman will be a man in his early twenties. As is the case on "Smallville," which tells the story of Clark Kent's teenage years and his coming-of-age as Superman, there won't be any presto-chango into costumes or other superhero accessories when his superpowers are invoked, a WB Network spokesman said.
The October 20 episode of "Smallville," titled "Aqua," featured the Kent character encountering a mysterious young swimmer and do-gooder dubbed "A.C.," played by Alan Ritchson.
The WB spokesman said that episode, which ranked as "Smallville's" most-watched of the season with nearly 6.5 million viewers, was not meant to be a template for the "Aquaman" project and that "Smallville" executive producers Miles Millar and Alfred Gough would search for a new actor for the lead role.
The Aquaman pilot tentatively is set to shoot early next year in Florida.

I just love how WB copies Marvel's X-Men and makes all their superheroes mutants that develop their powers when they reach puberty. It's such an original thought. They should do that to all their characters then they could make a cheesy soap opera about them. Oh wait...they are doing that.

Yeah why you chumps wasting time making a show about Aquaman. He is a rip off of me! Make a show about me, or a movie! Not Aquaman.

Hey people, "Paul" is right-look at the date on this article-2005! 2005???
What is this with Superhero hype recycling OLD NEWS???
This has been happening a lot lately, especially with news from before Superman Returns.
Oh wait! Did you hear there's going to be a Batman reboot...with an actor named...(let me see here) a guy named Christian Bale! Oh this has happened already?? Sorry...

I think luke cage would work real well. He's character from the streets with not such eloborate costume with a dark or shady character. I think people in this day and age could relate to a rebellious hero with his type of agenda. You could write many scritpts with such a character. A lot of dark settings, drugs, gangs, hero relations, underground and espionage, etc. I really believe if done well, it could show some promise and make some money. It reminds me of the dark settings like blade, daredevil or even batman... I'm not saying it would do as well as batman. Im just saying it could take on the same dark or shady personalities as some of these individuals. Usually these dark perosnalities sell!!

Yeah, and you know the guy they got to play Aquaman/Arthur Curry? You can catch him every week on Smallville, playing - wait for it - Oliver Queen, aka the Green Arrow!
Wait...it's not called Aquaman? What did they call it again? Mercy Reef, yeah, that was it!

I got to see the pilot, what a piece of garbage. I hate how the only way they can make an aquaman story any good is by adding marine biology and "eco-issues"

Didn't this already happen and not get picked up? Not only that but it's dated November 05 and the WB network doesn't exist anymore. The pilot was pretty cool wish they would of picked it up.
