David Goyer Takes on The Flash
Source:Variety
December 17, 2004

Blade: Trinity writer/director and Batman Begins writer David Goyer has committed to write, produce and direct a feature adaptation of DC Comics' The Flash for Warner Bros. Pictures, says Variety.

Created by Gardner Fox and Harry Lampert, the Flash first appeared in DC Comics late in 1939. He's the alter ego of chemistry student Jason Peter "Jay" Garrick, an aspiring athlete whose exposure to heavy water fumes gives him the ability to move at incredible speeds.

"'Flash' is my favorite of the properties," said Goyer, "I think the character of the Flash, who moves faster than the speed of light, opens itself up to rich cinematic and story ideas."

Yes, DAVID GOYER WRITER, but please NO DIRECTOR OF FLASH.
DAVID wrote excelent BLADE, but destroy BLADE 3 when direct that movie.
Only writer, and Director STHEPEN HOPKINS.

Just make sure you use Ryan Reynolds. From what I have herd and he is going to play The Flash in the justic league movie.

The Flash is one of the few second-stringers on DC who could actually carry a film. He`s a fascinating character when you think about what his powers entail.

Here is a superhero who is moving faster than the speed of light.Flash is actually faster than Super Man because the source of his super-speed abilities is the speed force.

He`s fast enough to dodge bullets and run on water and there are so many other amazing things he can do with the speed force(Dash from The Incredibles obviously was inspired by the Flash because Marvel`s Quicksilver and the super villian Speed Demon obviously were).

Flash has potential as a movie
unlike say, a Aqua Man Movie with Aqua Man who possesses the ability to telepathically communicate with fish and breath underwater or movies about characters like Hawkman,Etrigan The Demon,Zatanna,Red Tornado,Martian Manhunter,Mr.Miracle or Blue Beetle or Booster Gold or so on and so forth.A Flash movie can actually work(and possibly a Green Arrow or Supergirl movie if they`re done properly).

(Green Lantern could possibly work and even a movie on The Question would probably be a cool movie that makes you think but I still think Flash is more of a sure bet to work than all those other movies that I just mentioned).

The truth is that outside of Superman,Batman and Wonder Woman DC doesn`t have the same range of interesting characters that a movie franchise can be built on like Marvel has.
If people are honest with themselves, they`ll admit it.

For example, the now-scrapped JLA movie wouldn`t have been a good idea either or at least not before introducing all of the characters in stand-alone films similar to what Marvel pans to do with their Avengers film and some of the JLA members don`t have the same appeal as members of the Avengers.
(Plastic Man and The Elongated Man comes to mind)

Marvel has about over twenty characters that franchises can be built on and that`s not even counting the groups. If DC can get a movie on any character besides their big three the Flash should be the one.

If they get The Flash made with a super-talented person like David Goyer I`d go see it.That would be so visually stunning to see via the big screen.

He committed to Flash 4 years ago. Obviously it didn't happen.

Why are people commenting to this now? I thought it was old news. I mean look at the date "December 17, 2004". Did someone put this article up by mistake or is it been confirmed that Goyer's back on the project?

I think somehow the old article has just resurfaced. I wish Goyer was still attached to the project but he hasn't been for some time from what I've heard and read

I was actually agreeing with Jrobert up until the point where he said Aquaman or Booster and Beetle weren't good enough characters to carry a film.

I'd gladly go see either of those films multiple times in theatres if they were done well.

This post may be four years old but if Superhero Hype posted it again in September of 2008,outside of human error, one would think that there may actually be a possibility that Goyer can still make a Flash movie happen. If he can as I said on my last post I`de go see it.

And to respond to What a Maroon`s post-I should say that I love DC Comics and believe it or not I actually like Aqua Man,Booster Gold and Blue Beetle. Aqua Man is a superhero who as Rodney Dangerfield might`ve said ''gets no respect''. The man born Orin alias Arthur Curry and nicknamed ''swimmer'' by the dolphins who raised him is often derided in the comic fan community.

People always said that his powers were basically useless seeing as he can only''talk to fish and breath underwater''.And then the running joke was well, why would anyone want to talk to fish anyway?(I`m sure some people would). But any movie set in the underwater world could be a astounding visually stunning journey as Finding Nemo is. a good example of.

Seeing as the planet is 3/4 water(which I actually learned from reading Aquaman issues)a underwater superhero fantasy adventure could be amazing.

Aquaman is amphibious so he can actually live on land as well as water unlike his Marvel counterpart Namor who traditionally became weaker whenever he was on land too long.I remeber how the comics would show that besides being able to ''talk to fish'' Aquaman could actually mentally affect any character who was evolved from marine ancestors via their basal ganglia and give them a seizure or perhaps even a stroke and that he could telepathically communicate with virtually any form of marine life besides just fish.A movie that shows Aqua Man in that type of light might help Aqua Man`s reputation as a superhero.

I would love to have seen a Aqua Man movie because the sea is one frontier that like space in the movie world can be readily explored from the fantasy angle. The 1994 series Time and Tide compacted into a single film would`ve been awesome. And I, like a lot of fans probably would`ve gone to see it.But as I said before and this is obviously in my own opinion, I just don`t see heroes like Aquaman(or Booster Gold and Blue Beetle) being able to carry a full-length film the same way that Marvel`s second stringers can.

That`s why it`ll be so great if David Goyer is back on board for a Flash movie.DC needs a second-stringer long with it`s big three to show people that their characters can turn in a profit at the theatres too.

Flah is an amazing hero (lol I said →an← even though theres about 3-4 different flashes). Flash is very powerful. He (the Barry allen flash) was The fastest flash. He was so fast that he could not only vibrate so fast thzt he could go through things, he could do it at such a level that he can go inside a person and make them explode.
Also there was a flash (forgot which one) that was fighting super-boy prime (a superman from another universe that turned bad) and was punching him so hard and fast that he punched right through his invisible shield and knocked him out.
If they were to make a Flash movie I really hope they do a good job.

He sure aint no Spiderman!

They better use the Barry Allen Flash. They should make it start out in the forties with the original Jay Garrick Flash, Then in nowadays time, he could be around still and train Barry Allen. They could team up and defeat the villain, who should be the trickster,Captain Cold, or Gorilla Grodd. It could be a film about passing the torch from Jay Garrick to Barry Allen. Jay Garrick would become part of the speedforce, leaving Barry Allen to protect the slower human universe.

Well according to warner brothers they are going with a new superman movie, then maybe green lantern and mtv had and articale about a green arrow movie as well. I suppose flash would fit in there somewhere then they can do JLA like marvel will with avengers. Ryan Renyolds is playing deadpool in the new wolverine movie but i suppose he could still sign on to play the flash, he would be the PERFECT flash because he's about the same size as flash would be and he has an awesome sense of humor. Hopefully DC/Warner brothers will get their asses in gear and get the super heor franchises straightened out once and for all. For ever batman begins or dark night there has been gosh awful catwoman movies. Of course marvel has misfired with daredevil, first hulk movie, punisher and so on, and so on. Anyway here's hoping Goyer IS back on Flash and maybe it will fit in with Warner's new plan. Thanks for reading.

jrobert, this means nothing. This post was found under: "Most Active". Some idiot obviously was looking through backissues of Superherohype and posted on this and brought it to the front and the rest of you idiots been posting on it ever since keeping it here. If there had been anything new they would have posted a new article.
