Patty Jenkins and Lynda Carter Confirm Wonder Woman 3

Today’s DC FanDome event was all about The Batman, The Flash, and several other high profile DC projects. However, two of FanDome’s guests apparently made an unplanned announcement of their own. Via Deadline, director Patty Jenkins and TV’s Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter, admitted that the next sequel to Gal Gadot’s franchise is in the works.

“We’re super excited about Wonder Woman 3,” said Jenkins. “Gal, who is so bummed about not being here, who’s the busiest person in the world, with now three little kids and shooting…We are all three very excited about some things coming up with Wonder Woman 3.″

Carter also exclaimed “Wonder Woman 3 is coming!” in response to Jenkins.

In Wonder Woman 1984‘s post-credits scene, Carter made a cameo appearance as credits as Asteria. Within the context of the film, Asteria was the  legendary Amazon warrior who originally had Wonder Woman’s wing suit. Like Diana, Asteria is also living among mortals. Presumably the two Amazon warriors will finally meet in the next film.

The first reports of Wonder Woman 3 emerged in December. Regardless, it’s unclear when the project can go in front of the cameras. Jenkins is already signed up to direct Star Wars: Rogue Squadron for Lucasfilm, which will hit theaters in December 2023. Also, that film hasn’t even started filming yet. Potentially, that could push the third Wonder Woman film into 2024 or even 2025.

When do you think Wonder Woman 3 will hit theaters? And what do you want to see in the sequel? Let us know in the comment section below!
