LEGO Remakes the Back to the Future DeLorean as 3-in-1 Set

The last time LEGO made a Back to the Future DeLorean time machine set, it was a result of the LEGO Ideas vetting process and a fan-submitted design. This time, they’re building back bigger. The newest take on Doc Brown’s customized DeLorean may include two inifigs, but it’s in the larger Creator scale. And can adapt to a build representing each of the three films. Add the lightning rod for the ride home in Part I. Flip down the wheels and build Mr. Fusion and a flight stand for Part II‘s air highway. Or add whitewall tires and the hood-mounted circuit board from Part III.

The doors open, the flux capacitor lights up, an dthe trunk even stores gear like Marty’s hoverboard, a case of plutonium, and the alternate future license plate. Plus there’s even a banana peel and beer can to power Mr. Fusion. The set includes minifigs of Marty and Doc Brown dressed in their 2015 gear for Part II.

LEGO’s official press release quotes trilogy co-producer and co-writer Bob Gale, to remind everyone that toys aren’t real: “In the movie, Doc Brown spent almost 30 years and his entire family fortune to build his Time Machine. Fortunately, you’ll be able to build this LEGO model in significantly less time and with far less expense – although your completed version will be unable to travel through time!”

The precise expense will be $169.99, starting April 1st. Take a look at more images in the gallery below.
