TV Guide reports that Michael Cassidy (“Hidden Palms,” “The O.C.”) has been cast as the new Daily Planet editor on “Smallville,” replacing Carrie Fisher’s barely visible Pauline Kahn.
Cassidy will appear in at least six episodes and his character is being groomed as a love interest for Lois Lane.
The role originally called for a thirtysomething actor. Cassidy, however, is 24.
