Elektra in Second Place on DVD

The Hollywood Reporter says Elektra did well in its first week on DVD:

“Sideways” and “Elektra,” both released April 5 from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, were the top-selling DVDs for the week ending Sunday, according to Nielsen VideoScan’s First Alert DVD sales chart.

Industry insiders said that “Sideways” is closing in on sales of 2 million units, while “Elektra” has sold nearly 1.7 million. Taking third place on the First Alert chart was “Spanglish” from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

The two Fox titles, though, were outdone by the Sony movie at the rental counter. According to Home Media Retailing magazine estimates for the week ending Sunday, “Spanglish” rental revenue was $9.1 million, while “Sideways” and “Elektra” were at $8.3 million and $6.6 million, respectively.
