Variety reports that Lions Gate and Marvel’s The Punisher, starring Thomas Jane, John Travolta and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, will kick off ShoWest’s opening-day luncheon March 23.
Film, which will world preem at the confab, will unspool prior to the lunch, to be co-hosted by Lions Gate and visual solutions pioneer Christie.
As part of the day’s events, “Punisher” producer Avi Arad, CEO-chairman of Marvel Enterprises’ entertainment division Marvel Studios, will be honored with the first-ever Robert W. Selig Showmanship Award for achievement in filmmaking. Nod was spawned in honor of one of the founders of ShoWest, who died Dec. 31 at 93. A distribution and exhibition exec, Selig had retired just eight years ago.
ShoWest confab runs March 22-25 in Las Vegas.
Meanwhile, new Spider-Man 2 and Catwoman trailers are also expected to be shown at the event.
