Sony Shows Spider-Man 2 Trailer to Wall Street

Since we’ve heard nothing about the Spider-Man 2 teaser trailer hitting theaters with “The Matrix Reloaded”, it’s now safe to assume that our reliable source was referring to “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” on December 17 (we were told it was one of the two trilogies). What we do know for sure is that Variety just confirmed an earlier description of the trailer that was posted on Ain’t-It-Cool-News. The Hollywood trade reports…

Robert Weisenthal, chief financial officer of Sony Corp. of America, said SPE earnings will decline in the current fiscal year that ends in March. Even a strong holiday slate won’t beat the Spidey-inflated numbers from last year. Pic took in more than $1 billion worldwide. “Spider-Man II” is due out in July, and Sony showed the assembled Wall Streeters what it said was the first public clip. (A Tobey Maguire-Kirstin Dunst smooch was aborted by a car smashing through a window and a tentacled Alfred Molina.)

We can’t wait to see the clip ourselves, too bad we’ll have to wait a bit longer!
