Ridley Scott and Michael Fassbender talk Alien: Covenant and tease the future of the Alien franchise
Alien: Covenant, director Ridley Scott’s return to the franchise he created nearly 40 years ago, is finally upon us. The latest chapter in the Alien franchise wound up taking in $36 million in its domestic debut over the weekend. So what’s next for the long-running film series? In our final set of video interviews, we’re sitting down with Sir Ridley Scott himself alongside star Michael Fassbender. Ridley Scott reveals the reason he didn’t pay much attention to the original Alien sequels and teases what’s to come with multiple films he still has planned that are aimed to bridge the gap between Covenant and Alien.
A 20th Century Fox film, Alien: Covenant follows the crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. Upon discovering what they think is an uncharted paradise, a team sets out only to experience a kind of horror that helps bridge the gap between Scott’s Prometheus and the original launch of the Alien franchise.
The Alien Covenant cast also includes Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, Benjamin Rigby, and James Franco. Jack Paglen (Transcendence) and Michael Green (Green Lantern) provided the Alien: Covenant screenplay.
