Venom was the result of fanboys and stupid studio execs, which turned into the disappointment that was Spiderman 3. Venom was never in the original script nor did Raimi want him in the damn movie. But yeah, you get comic book fanboys that know nothing of movie making and the studios think its a good idea. Then again, money is always a good idea, especially if the ones giving you the idea are one of your main sources for money. Based on what I have been reading both here and on other new sites, he does not want a "Vultress" character, the studio does. Sony and Marvel are the one who are pushing Black Cat or this other twisted version of her, Raimi wants the start putting in Sinister Six characters. That is where the fight is and most likely why the delay in script. Same thing happend in Spidey 3. Raimi wanted just the Sandman and the finish up the Osborn story, Sony and Marvel wanted Venom. Raimi was forced to put him into his story and the result was Spider-Man 3.
