Really Spikewood? Forget casting calls anymore Hollywood lets just cast Ryan Reynolds as every superhero in every comic book movie. Hey it could work! But seriously I think Renner would be alright. He's got the look and the acting ability but I don't like how he sees the character and he doesn't seem to be willing to do any homework on the character which is BS if you ask me. I personally think Chris Evans would be perfect. Sucks that he was already in Fantastic Four but their done with that now soo. People will call me crazy but I think Jake Gyllenhaal would be a good cast. I say that based on his role in Jarhead. Think about all the time and effort it takes to make a CGI battle. Millions of dollars are spent to create Ironman, Hulk, Thor, etc. How can you cram the unification / teamwork building of the avengers, a major villian (or more likely many villians) with their own goals and relationships with the avengers. Then we're gonna throw in Hawkeye and other lesser known Heroes and Villians. The problem is, if they put the revamped version of Hawkeye in the film, long-time Avengers fans will be upset and if they put the traditional Hawkeye in the movie, viewers unfamiliar with the Avengers are likely to laugh so hard they emit popcorn-laced spittle all over the backs of the heads of the people sitting in front of them. Either way, I think it'll be worth seeing, and either way, I think Renner would do well. I just wish they'd give us some confirmation about this. Yes, in the comics, he plays a pivotal role, but he's so lame it's hard to imagine that a screen version could be anything but a joke. I'd think that if they were looking to introduce another Avenger in Thor, it would be cooler fan fave, like The Vision. On the other hand, I'm aware that Hawkeye does have some ardent fans and his role in the Avengers comics is major enough to justify putting him onscreen, no matter how lame he is. Besides, if Smallville can make previous near-punchline characters like Aquaman and the Wonder Twins screen-worthy, I'm sure Branagh can do it with Hawkeye. I've liked that guy ever since I saw him years back as the villain in "S.W.A.T." He's got the face of a wise-ass as well, so he really would fit the role.
