I realized then how very ordinary and sorry Rogen is. Not because he was dissed, but by his reaction. He still comes across like a dweeb. This is his attempt to be something he's not and he's going to ruin this project. He should have played to his strengths and did a comedic take on his own creation and possibly make a great film. I know A LITTLE about Green Hornet, but not all that much and didnt hear about this project until I heard Seth Rogan was doing it. Point blank though, everyone is simply reacting to what he's done before and I will admit even though I know nothing about the character, just the thought of him being a action hero IS weird. That said, just because we never seen him in that type of role before doesnt mean he cant pull it off either ;). And yeah, I'm guessing 90% of the people commented probably knew little to nothing about this character before this film came along. I think Seth Rogen wants to do this because he feels that he would like to prove himself. Also, although Michael Keaton was chosen as Batman, he was not Tim Burton's first choice. If you remember, his first choice was actually Bill Murray, who hadn't done any drama at all. For some reason, these directors can see something that we as movie goers can not see. There are millions and millions of dollars put into this movie because they have a vision that a person can change their personality when a camera is put on them. Maybe the screen test showed something that we have not seen. Let's see what happens. Hopefully it will not turn out like George Clooney's "Batman and Robin". Personally, I feel the movie will go belly-up if they don't pick the right "Kato" actor. Moreover, he was a 30's radio character... an era that wasn't exactly known for hardcore serious creations (pulp fiction, yes, but not intensely serious drama.) He was a newspaper publisher by day, and a masked hero by night... I think Seth looks like he'd fit in somewhere in a 30's-era newspaper office. Obviously the character has changed some since then... the entire series has. For one thing, Kato has been Japanese, Filipino, and Korean, and that's just in the time that it was a radio show. Long story short: Don't expect high drama from The Green Hornet. If done well, it should come across as somewhat pulp-y, lots of action (largely from Kato, since the Green Hornet was "fair to above average" at hand-to-hand but was by no means a master combatant), and most certainly won't be full of "fart and drug jokes."
