Anybody who sees it as anything more and hopes for it to aspire to be something greater than it is, is frankly naive and kidding themselves. The crew on this project knows it, the actors know it, the studio knows it, and believe me, they aren't banking on this being some sort of franchise like Batman or Iron Man. It's going to be a fun, entertaining popcorn film. The comedy and explosions will set this movie apart from other films about millionaire playboy vigilantes. So it's confirmed that this will be a tongue-in-cheek comedy spoof of the original. I think George Clooney is funny and brilliant, but he was a horrible Batman. I can't speak for everyone else here, but that's my issue with Rogen's involvement in this film. He seems so woefully mis-cast, and from his late night talk show and other appearances in which he discusses his involvement, he even seems dumbfounded that he's doing this; either that or he's surprised to realize just how many Green Lantern fans exist. By the way, I suspect that more than a few of us posting here are fans, and some of us are old enough to remember watching the show during it's original run. At 39 years old, I have to confess that afternoon syndication runs (when I was in elementary and middle school), ME tv weekend runs and the recent Encore Action network run of the series are my exposure to the show, but I also have old comics and strips, books, and even some of the old toys.
