I'm originally from Vancouver(the sci-fi tv & movie capital) but the remakes there of andromeda strain for a&e and the flash gordon 2007 series were total crap. George Lucas loves the old Flash Gordon tv series and used it to adapted Episodes IV,V,VI before Episodes I,II,III. It was the old Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, Greek, Roman mythology and fabled tell for the reason why Lucas gave birth to Star Wars. In fact, considering how much the tv show was slagged off by anyone who saw it, I'd say they have a heads up as to what NOT to do in a Flash Gordon pic. It should be a big, fun space adventure - they shouldn't go too wrong by sticking close to the source material.
