I don't find this that bad an idea. Knowing that the general public's not as familiar with Cap as other big superhero celebrities.
I think the idea shows a clever little twist on the part of the film makers.
This way you get multiple-versions of the suit and pay homage to the original.
I love Cap's original suit or suits.
From the first one from issue one back in 1940, to the standard costume of today.
And even the Ultimate's Saving Private Ryan look. This is showing a good excuse to satisfy fans and new comings a like.
And make it all work in the context of the "realistic" superhero movies.
Dark knight and Batman Begins to name a few. - Ancient FanBoy

Yeah. I don't love the idea that the movie producers are messing with the costume.

In Captain America's case, moreso than any other hero, that costume defines his character, as much as his character defines the hero.

I understand that Hollywood has been leery of going with the old style four color costumes that made superhero comics so garish and attention grabbing. The concern is that brightly colored costumes will turn off potential non-comicbook fan viewers, who will dismiss the movies as "childish".

I understand this concern in properties which are lesser known to the general public, like the X-Men were for example. But Captain America is a fairly well known property whose comic book origins are also well-known.

In other words, the producers are changing the costume based on a concern that isn't really a concern in the case of a character that everyone knows is comic book based, completely with an iconic uniform.

I disagree. - lornie

the last paragraph of the interview... the one about him having a new, slef-made costume... kinda scares me. Not because of the way it might look, but because I had exactly the same idea, of him wearing two diffrenet costumes, the second one being slef-made... SCAAAARY lol - franshux

AMERICA IT SEEMS LIKE YOUR CAPTAIN HAS BEEN CHOSEN

There was a big buzz all over the Internet that 28 year old TV actor Robert Buckley has been picked to play Uncle Sam's favorite nephew, CAPTAIN AMERICA then most of the links leading to the story MYSTERIOUSLY disappeared, which gives a lot of creedence to the news if you ask me. For those Human Target fans out there, the guy could believably play Mark Valley's son. Although few photos of him scream steve rogers, he looks a lot closer to the character than Jensen Ackels. Now give the guy a mask with a big letter a in the forehead, and a tiny white wing for each side of his head. BTW, NO rubber ears please. - Victory

The suit will be definetly type of the Ultimates suit. He will have a World War II helmet and then it will evolve to the Cap no wings head Ultimate suit. I hope we can see the first triangular cap shield and then the circular one. And i want to see RED SKULL pleaseee :))) - Wolverine_X

Namor is a cornerstone Marvel character, and deserves to be in the movies.

I think the USO thing will work. I hope they go with the Ultimates WWII costume and bring him out on stage for a brief routine with some showgirls that do most of the singing/dancing. From there, it should be him putting on a display of acrobatics and incredible feats of strength and shield boomeranging. The crowd of soldiers is apathetic, maybe they even boo. He hates it. He's crushed, as he'd rather slog it out on the battle field. In time, the crowds come to respect and love him as he starts to speak his true feelings to the soldiers. Then he goes AWOL to save ... none other than a young Nick Fury with two good eyeballs. He covers up the suit with battle fatigues, then they start to tear away and tatter to reveal the cap uniform underneath. He "realizes the value of being a symbol" and re-creates the uniform. The rest is history.

I think that'd be pretty cool.

My only reservation is with the inclusion of the Invaders. I hate the Namor character. The Human Torch and Toro could be really confusing to people that have seen the Fan 4 movies. Captain Britain is OK, I guess, but I don't see how any additional super characters add value to the story of the man that is Steve Rogers. The Batman movies did not need Robin. I say the Cap movies do not need Bucky ... or the Invaders. The Wolverine movie sucked because of all the extra characters, IMO. - Maul Rats

the cool thing about cap is all he has is a shield. if you mess with the simple costume it becomes more of batman and his suit. also the idea of building a "super solder" and not wanting to use him for fear of death, just seems dumb.

make suit plain and simple, he is gonna have to be able to jump around and do flips, you cant have him in a "x-men movie" suit. leather just reminds me of the old snl skit with the leather store - misjuevos

first they have to go the Ultimates route (not neccsary for a character that has survived with minimal change since 1940) I can forgive that...now this idiotic USO angle? and c'mon...why change the suit? Iron Man looked great as drawn...the FF looked good (granted the script blew)...Spider-Man looked great...why oh why does Hollywood insist putting a "realistic" stamp on things? it's a comic book hero...oh well,...I'll buy a ticket because I love Marvel...I just hope they don't ruin it - kname2

I agree captain a merica suit should be like in the comics its so iconic. like superman and spiderman. you dont want to change the suit. they can make white blue and red and not make the suit look rediculous. I mean look what they did to spidys suit. Awesome. Joe johnston should be replaced if he thinks the colors look stupid. - VBaines

it's like i said... no one in marvel ever looks to MAN ON FIRE for a nice lead in. a movie where they take time to establish the relationship between dakota and washington, before ripping them apart with "death" and then the hero goes on his vengence path.

without being able to establish character and emotion the action makes no point, sense, rhyme or reason!

ie. Xmen 3! (or as i call it.. "crap")

All the bad reviews and even some of the good ones complain about any real connection to characters.

sorry JOE JOHNSTON, if that is all you have to bring to the table (action and graphics), you have failed before you began and I hope they pull the title from you before it is too late or they watch you like a hawk to keep you on task!

this is a very strong character. there is most likely very few people that love cap because of an action scene he once had in a comic they once read.

they love the man.

I, myself, love when he commanded that ANTMAN get "big" so it would be a fair fight when confronting him about his domestic abuse charges against the wasp! HIT A LADY... GET YOUR ASS HANDED TO YOU!

he is clint eastwood and superman. no fear of dying for country or values. we go in head strong and ready to pay the cost.... he even did.

if you are an action junky... you dont have a chance of making a good movie. - phoenix taylor

A barely coherent, often inconsistent film that fails to generate any of the emotions it so desperately wants to evoke

What's missing from The Wolfman is what's hard to put on paper -- tension, suspense, emotion -- the elements needed to make this rather simple story go from more of a mild entertainment to something truly memorable.

There's never a silver bullet around when you need to put a lame monster reboot out of its misery.

Baker's fantastic make-up effects together with great performances from Del Toro and Hopkins make this a fun experience. Don't expect an even plot and character development.

An embarrassment to Universal's horror legacy.

I'd rather watch 'Teen Wolf' on repeat than yawn through 'The Wolfman' again. It's the type of movie where you can fall asleep for 20 minutes, wake up and realize you didn't miss a thing. - phoenix taylor

I've a bit more faith in the costume changes than some. It's not as if we're going to see something as atrocious as Reb Brown's outfit in the 70s Captain America tv movies. I say wait to we see the pictures.
Also, it wouldn't surprise me if they saved the costume, a bit closer to the comics, for the Avengers movie. - knack

@ Black Vulcan. I hate the XMen uniforms in the movies. I thought Heath Ledger would be fine from what I read on how he was going at the role. I thought Tobey Maguire kinda sucked as Spiderman and wished they had hired Jake Gyllenhall or however you spell his name in the first place. The difference between the XMen uniforms and the Cap and Superman Uniforms is that the Xmen are kinda rogues and Cap and Supes use their uniforms as symbols. I don't mind if they tweak it a bit but its got to have the general overall feel. I could see them combining the two ideas at the end or in the Avengers movie by Stark making him a lightweight bullet proof uniform along with him getting the round sheild. - house

@ Jason

You're (the general You, not you specifically) also the ones who said any x-men movie without wolverine in his yellow uniform would be a failure and betrayal to the comics; You're also the one's who said Heath Ledger would fail as the joker because he'll be nothing like Nicholson or Hamill; You're also the ones who said Tobey Maguire was too dull and sleepy to pull of Spider-Man; You're also the ones who said Jon Favreau is a comedy director and that he would turn Iron Man into swingers with a battle suit.

Sometimes, you guys are overreacting, regardless of the times you've been right. - Black_Vulcan
