The sfx guy from I Am Legend? Oops. The CGI in that film was awful. So bad, in fact, that it almost sunk the movie. So far, things are looking fair to good for Green Lantern. But just give it a little time and DC will somehow screw it up. - SteveG.

It would be difficult for Ryan Reynolds to play Wally West at 33 because if Ryan Reynolds played The Flash at his age he would have to play Barry Allen. I'll explain why. Wally get's his superspeed powers at age 10. The story would have to progress from 10 to teens then his 20s. Ryan Reynolds is about the same age Barry Allen is married to Iris West Allen. Reynolds is past his prime for Wally, but it's not to late from him to play Barry Allen. A Flash movie would be difficult to do and reasons:

How does The Flash capture and beat up Gorilla Grodd?

1. He can run a cyclone around Grodd to suck the air out of him.
2. Run fast in the Speed Force to power punch Grodd.
3. Knock out Grodd's mind control helmet, shocking Grodd by becoming tangible through Grodd's helmet.

Would the Flash be a comedy/adventure, action/ adventure or drama/adventure?

If you use Wally he's too silly and not too serious about crime fighting. He is more concerned about protecting Linda Park then mostly Keystone City.

That is why the 1st Flash film would have to be Jay Garrick or Barry Allen.

Wally West would be better suitably introduced in the 2nd or 3rd film.

1990s introduced Barry Allen in the CBS TV show and he was established.

2005 or 2006 Bart Allen was introduced on Smallville in Smallville's episode,"Run."

To get Kid Flash and Flash III Wally West to a a major motion picture would make more sense to generate a backstory for Wally West on TV first them adapt him to his on film. It's pratical, it develop's a superhero to recognition and it inspires more depth to build a character's profile from what he is, what he must do and what he will become. That is why Spider-Man in 2002 was successful for Marvel. It's important the contemplate the building blocks of these heroes and establish a network for their performance.

That is why I think Smallville should end. We established the backstory and origin of Superman. Now we need a show to introduce, appear, develop and evolve Wally West in a potential new Flash TV series called:

They should be using the team at Sony that was on Tim Burton's Alice, not the B team. Ken Ralston is the premiere VFX Supe. Who the f are these guys? Jim Berney? Sounds like a Seasame Street character. - insider

@ Kid_Naste - wow how much do you hate hal bashers? do you have a little crush on Hal do you huh? LOL Just doing a little reading between the lines I come to the conclusion that you must have named one of your hands after the prom queen at your dink school?

John Stewart would have been a much better choice for the character in this movie.

I think you said "I pity the people in the movie theater with me if they screw this up" ... you know how I pity ... people like myself that have to read the rantings of an utter moron who doesnt have the fortitude to come out of the closet like you! - whothe"f"cares

BOOOOOOOOO!!!!! The effects needed to properly pull off Green Lantern have to be amazing. People need to be walking out of the theater with green stars in their eyes. I never saw I am Legend because of the horrible CGI with the infected "zombies" or whatever, it totally detracted from the movie for not just me but a LOT of movie goers. I havent been too particullary impressed with the effects from the other movies listed above either. I guess ILM can't do everything, but there are so many other options out there than a company with a less than stellar record such as this. This is definetly NOT the road I would have expected them to take on this one. - BrianFXW

Every time I read somebody talk trash about how bland Hal Jordan is can't help but automatically revert to all of the 70's and down comics where everyone was bland. Hal Jordan is a kick ass fighter pilot, always talks shit, and always gets the girl(s). Actually, that's probably why so many of you hate him; no girls to speak of in your world. True, I've never known many guys that lived off of playing Dungeons & Dragons with their moms that ever respected a ladies man. Take it from a guy that fucked the prom queen (yeah, not everybody that reads comics is a nerd, world), Hal Jordan's a pimp. I've been reading Green Lantern for nearly my entire thirty years, stopped for a while when that whiny bitch Kyle took over, but Geoff Johns made everything right if not even better. If you don't like Green Lantern, fine, my brother in law loves Superman, which I hate, but we're still cool. Just don't bring that Kyle Rayner or John Stewart bullshit around here 'cause I ain't trying to hear it. At least, thanks to Geoff Johns, John Stewart is now a bad ass Marine. I can withstand some Guy Gardner praise but he'll never be THE Green Lantern. All that said, I pity the people in the movie theater with me if they screw this up. - Kid_Naste

Terrible choice. Sony Image Works is the worst major effects company around. Weta or ILM would have been better. Weta's the biggest gun around and they're always busy but at least ILM. - messi

The people in "I Am Legend" looked bad because they had originally filmed actors in those roles but decided at very last minute to CG them. They didn't have enough time to make the CG look flawless. - Tone

As the name says!

This movie is going to suck large amounts of sewer water. Ryan Reynolds is at best a horrible choice for this character. And lets face it the character itself is sub standard as well. Hal Jordan ? cmon whats the joke? Hal Jordan as a character is lifeless and weak. Can anyone explain why this movie is being set up to fail from the get go? - whothe"f"cares

dandman: Unfortunately, those story arcs you're talking about are the ones in which he was possessed by an ancient entity of fear, Parallax. Without Parallax, he really has gone back to being one of the most bland characters in comics. I've read every issue of the new series since he's come back, hoping they'll inject a little personality into him, but the most they've done is take him back to his "ladies man" roots. Now he's looking at himself more as a space cop than a super hero, and his space cop attitude is grating to say the least. He used to argue with the Guardians all the time about what they wanted him to do. Now, it's all about the job, and "I have galactic authority" type of nonsense, making him like the worst government agents out there. I know it's looking like he's going to be integral in the Blackest Night saga, but that's more from editorial wishes than actual character development. The editors at DC comics wanted Hal Jordan and Barry Allen back from the dead, and determined to do it no matter what. They're batting .500 so far, as the Green Lantern: Rebirth was fantastic, and the Final Crisis and Flash: Rebirth is total dung. They've succeeded in making Barry Allen more boring than he ever was before, with the same "new" attitude that GL has. Barry Allen was a cop, so now he decides to be all grim and gritty like one, to match Green Lantern. Boring. This isn't character development; it's character regression, to the point where all they've done is take these great characters and repress their personalities. I HOPE Green Lantern grows a personality soon, and learns to lighten up. - Jeremy
