Exclusive Preview – The Darkhold: Wasp #1

The Wasp has taken a turn for the wicked in Marvel’s Darkhold event. Doctor Doom found the Darkhold, Marvel’s most infamous tome of dark magic, and he selfishly thought he could harness its power for himself. He failed, and it fell to the Scarlet Witch to clean up Doom’s mess. To save the world, Scarlet Witch also recruited five heroes to help her seal away the Darkhold’s demonic author, Chthon.

However, Wasp and the other four heroes were driven insane when they read from the Darkhold. Now, Janet van Dyne is truly a new woman, and not necessarily for the better!

In Superhero Hype’s exclusive preview for The Darkhold: Wasp #1, writer/colorist Jordie Bellaire and artist Claire Roe turn back the clock to show us the Avengers in battle against Kang. In Wasp’s revised history, this scene was a turning point that sent her on a dark path.

Here’s the official description from Marvel.

“INTRODUCING THE IRREDEEMABLE WASP! Renowned colorist and writer Jordie Bellaire makes her Marvel writing debut with a story that will make you shrink in fear! Bidden to draw forth five archetypal heroes, the Scarlet Witch chose Janet Van Dyne as “the artist” – the hero whose ingenuity and strength of will could prove the lynchpin in the coming battle against Chthon.

To enter Chthon’s dimension and face his darkness head-on, the Wasp read from the ill-fated Darkhold text…and it drove her insane. Now her entire life is subject to question. Janet is no stranger to mental illness; she spent years trying to redeem ex-husband Hank Pym despite his violent breakdowns. But now, she has the power to reclaim her story…and fight back. Bellaire brings you the most twisted comic you’ll read this year!”
